Move and support people safely, protecting them and yourself — the law, risk assessment, safe principles, equipment, falls and skin care. Practical hands-on training is also required.
What this course covers
- Understand the legislation and the avoid–assess–reduce hierarchy
- Assess a move using the TILE / LITE factors and the person's handling plan
- Apply safe handling principles and recognise unsafe techniques
- Use hoists, slide sheets and other equipment appropriately
- Respond safely when a person falls
- Protect skin and know your responsibilities

Who needs it
Anyone delivering hands-on care in a CQC-regulated service, as part of their mandatory training. Completion is recorded with the date taken and the date it is next due, so it appears correctly on your training matrix and can be evidenced at inspection.
What your carer receives
A certificate in their own name showing the completion date and renewal date, downloadable at any time. The record belongs to the carer, not just the employer.
