Long-Term Conditions & Mental Wellbeing training

£4 per person · CPD Aligned · no subscription required · certificate issued in the learner's name

The mental side of living with a long-term physical condition — grief for a former self, when low days become depression, how symptoms and mood feed each other, talking in ways that help rather than hollow cheerleading, practical support that restores control, and looking after your own wellbeing too.

What this course covers

How much does Long-Term Conditions & Mental Wellbeing training cost?

£4 per person on Care2Learn, with no minimum order and no subscription. If your team needs a full training matrix rather than one course, a subscription from £2 per learner per month — with volume discounts from 75 learners — covers all 45 courses. See the 2026 price comparison.

Who needs it

Care workers, senior carers and team leaders supporting anyone living with a long-term physical condition — heart disease, COPD, diabetes, arthritis, Parkinson’s and the rest — which is close to everyone in adult social care. Depression is two to three times more common alongside long-term conditions, and staff who understand the mental side deliver better care for the physical one. Completion is recorded with the date taken and the date it is next due, so it appears correctly on your training matrix.

What the learner receives

A certificate in their own name carrying the CPD Aligned seal, showing the completion date and the renewal date, downloadable at any time. The record belongs to the learner, not just the employer — it travels with them rather than sitting in one provider's system.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Long-Term Conditions & Mental Wellbeing training take?

About 35 min of e‑learning, across 7 sections with 10 assessment questions. Learners can stop and resume at any point, and it works on a phone.

Is Long-Term Conditions & Mental Wellbeing CPD Aligned, and how is it assessed?

Yes — the certificate carries the CPD Aligned seal. The assessment is multiple choice with a pass mark of 70%; attempts are recorded and learners can retake it. Renewal defaults to 12 months from the completion date — your organisation can set 24 or 36 months per course — so it reappears on your training matrix when it is due.

How is this different from Mental Health Awareness?

Mental Health Awareness covers mental health conditions in their own right. This course covers the specific territory where physical illness and mood meet: grief for a former self, how pain, fatigue and lost independence drag mood down, telling understandable sadness from possible depression, and talking in ways that help rather than hollow cheerleading. Take both; they overlap less than the titles suggest.

Does it teach staff what to do about worrying statements?

Yes, carefully. It distinguishes hard days from persistent warning signs, and is unambiguous that hopelessness, feeling a burden, or any talk of not wanting to be here is escalated every time — with warm listening, no promises of secrecy, and prompt reporting so professional help is arranged. It also reassures staff that asking gently does not put ideas in anyone’s head.

Is it just about talking, or practical support too?

Both. The talking side retires “at least…” and toxic positivity in favour of acknowledgement and honest hope. The practical side is the architecture of better days: routine, small achievable goals, preserved independence even when it is slower, real choices, connection kept deliberately alive, and knowing the routes to GPs, talking therapies and peer support.

Does it cover the carer’s own wellbeing?

Yes — the closing section. Supporting people through decline and low mood is emotional labour, and the course treats supervision, debriefs, boundaries and asking for help as professional maintenance rather than weakness.

Does this count towards the Care Certificate?

No — this is a standalone awareness course rather than one of the Care Certificate standards.
