Terms for self-employed carers

Version 2026-07-30 · Last updated: 30 July 2026

These terms apply when you buy course credits from Care2Learn as a self-employed carer, for your own training. If you are an organisation training your staff, our main Terms & Conditions apply instead.

In short: you buy credits, one credit covers one course, and the courses are yours to take whenever you like. Your certificates are yours to keep. Because your courses open immediately, you cannot cancel and get a refund for a course once you have started it — but unused credits can be refunded within 14 days.

1. Who we are

Care2Learn is provided by CARE2LEARN LIMITED, registered in England and Wales (company number 12435039), registered office Wren House, 68 London Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 1NG. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC205619. Contact us at hello@care2learn.co.uk.

2. Credits, and what they cost

3. Immediate access, and your right to cancel

This clause matters, so it is set out plainly.

If you are buying as a consumer, you would normally have 14 days to change your mind about something bought online. Because your courses are digital and open the moment you add them, that right works a little differently here:

We record which version of these terms you accepted and when, so both of us have a clear record.

4. Your certificates and training record

When you complete a course you get a certificate in your name, showing the date you completed it and the date it is next due. Your certificates and training record are yours. You can download them at any time while your account is open, and we recommend you save copies as you go. We will not withhold a certificate for training you have completed and paid for.

5. Your account

6. Using the training honestly

Assessment results and certificates are only worth something if they are honest. Please do not complete assessments dishonestly, share answers, or let anyone else complete training in your name. If we have good reason to believe a certificate was not genuinely earned, we may withdraw it and close the account, and we will tell you why.

7. What the training is — and what it is not

Our courses reflect UK legislation, statutory guidance and recognised good practice at the time of writing. However:

If you are taking training to satisfy a particular employer or agency, it is worth checking with them first that our courses are acceptable to them.

8. Your personal data

Because you are training on your own account rather than through an employer, we are the data controller for your personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold, why, and the rights you have — including the right to a copy of your data and to ask us to delete it.

9. Availability

We aim to keep Care2Learn available and working properly, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We may occasionally take it offline for maintenance and will keep that as short as we can. If a fault stops you using credits you have paid for, contact us and we will put it right.

10. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. Please download your certificates first. We will keep your records for a reasonable period afterwards in case you need them, then delete or anonymise them as described in our Privacy Policy. Unused credits are not refundable on closure except where clause 3 or the law says otherwise.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. We are not liable for loss of earnings or other indirect losses.

None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer, if you are one.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to any purchase is the one you accepted at the time you made it, and we keep a record of that. Changes do not apply retrospectively to credits you have already bought.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
